The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand participated in the Foster Child Care Project event of the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), which was held on 18 August 2018 at the YWCA Office in Sathorn Road, Bangkok. The event is organized every year to coincide with the celebration of Thai National Mothers’ Day, which is also a commemoration of H. M. Queen Sirikit’s birthday. Mrs. Edith Mallillin, Embassy’s Cultural Officer and Attachè, represented the Ambassador in said event.

The Foster Child Care Project is one of YWCA beneficiaries; it grants poor children in Thailand free education and other related benefits. It receives financial support from the funds raised during the Diplomatic Charity Bazaar organized yearly by YWCA, in collaboration with the foreign diplomatic missions in Bangkok. Spouses of Heads of Missions and or their representatives attended the event and were given the opportunity to meet their respective designated foster children and also to hand over certificates to students who have been awarded with scholarships.
