On 13 April 2018 attended the Opening Ceremony of Songkran Festival 2018 at Wat Pathumwanaram Ratchaworawihan Bangkok organized by the Thai Ministry of Culture.

Songkran Festival is known for its water festival, young and old participate in this tradition by splashing water on each other which represents purification and the washing away of one's sins and bad luck. The celebration is rich with symbolic Thai new year traditions that begins with merit-making, visiting local temples and offering food to the Buddhist monks, paying reverence to ancestors and the symbolic water pouring on Buddha statues.
