The Philippine Embassy was among the fifty-three (53) foreign embassies that actively participated in the 51st Diplomatic Red Cross Bazaar held at the Royal Paragon Hall of the Siam Paragon Shopping and Entertainment Centre in Bangkok on 24-25 February 2018. The Bazaar is an event organized yearly by the Thai Red Cross Society in collaboration with the Diplomatic Participants Committee, in order to raise funds for the Society’s charity projects benefitting the needy and under-privileged people of Thailand.

Philippine Ambassador Mary Jo A. Bernardo-Aragon attended the opening ceremony, which was presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, who is also the Executive Vice President of the Thai Red Cross Society. During the customary tour and inspection of all booths, Ambassador Aragon stood by the Philippine Booth to greet HRH Princess Sirindhorn and to briefly introduce the Philippine products on offer.

The Philippine Booth showcased products produced by Philippine companies based in Thailand, such as Goldilocks Bakeshop Co. and the Thai Liwayway Food Industries. Philippine food items such as vinegar, dried mango, coco sugar, bottled coco jam, and many more were also put on display by the Philippine Special Agricultural Representative in Thailand. Visitors of the Philippine Booth enjoyed the taste of sample pili nuts and mango kernels, which generated much interest.

The Embassy also participated in the Bazaar’s traditional cultural activity program by staging the Philippine folk dance “Tiklos”, which was performed by Filipino teachers on 25 February 2018.
