Philippine Ambassador Mary Jo A. Bernardo-Aragon attended the “Friendship Beyond Frontier” concert held on 7 May 2017 at CW Tower, Bangkok. The concert featured the musical performances of ASEAN Consonant, a musical group composed of 10 musicians and 10 advisors/ conductors from ASEAN Member States. The Philippines was represented by Associate Professor Dr. Laverne David De La Pena (Chairman of Musicology Department at UP Diliman), and Mr. Marvin Tamayo (Music teacher at UP College of Music).

At the concert, Mr. Tamayo performed “Salidummay,” a popular folk song among various ethnic groups in the Cordilleras region in the Philippines. The other songs performed were: The ASEAN Way, Sarika Keo (Cambodia), Nan Bone Thi Har Bwe (Myanmar), Desh (Singapore), Xe Chi Luon Kim (Viet Nam), Seang Khaen Lao (Lao PDR), Hola Hela (Brunei Darussalam), Vivid (China), Tak Tong Tong (Indonesia), Pandang Pandang Jeling Jeling (Malaysia), and The King for all seasons: A tribute to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Thailand).
