President Rodrigo Roa Duterte paid his first Official Visit to Thailand on 20-22 March 2017 at the invitation of Prime Minister Gen. (Ret.) Prayut Chan-o-cha. President Duterte attended the Official Program at the Government House on 21 March. He was accompanied by select members of the Cabinet and senior Philippine Government officials. The two Leaders and their respective delegations met to discuss bilateral relations in the areas of military cooperation, trade and investment, agriculture, science and technology, tourism, energy among others. The two Leaders also witnessed the signing of three bilateral agreements in science and technology, tourism cooperation and agriculture.

On 22 March, President Duterte met with the Filipino Community in Thailand. Over 1500 Filipinos from all over Thailand attended the President’s Interaction with the Filipino Community held at the Royal Navy Convention Hall.

President Duterte also accepted the courtesy call by the executives of Charoen Pokphand Group led by Senior Chairman Mr. Dhanin Chearavanont. He also met with members of the Philippines-Thailand and Thailand-Philippines Business Councils in the “Invest Philippines CEO Roundtable.”
