Ambassador Mary Jo A. Bernardo-Aragon participated in Reporting ASEAN: Media Forum 2017 held in Bangkok, Thailand on 17 February 2017.

At the panel discussion “ASEAN at 50: Maturity or Mid-life Crisis,” Ambassador Bernardo-Aragon shared the theme of the Philippine Chairship ASEAN, “Partnering for Change, Engaging the World,” and identified the six thematic priorities of the Philippine Chairship, which are making a people-oriented and people-centered ASEAN; maintaining peace and stability in the region; pursuing maritime security and cooperation; advancing inclusive and innovation-led growth; strengthening ASEAN resiliency; and promoting ASEAN as a model of regionalism and as a global player.

The other discussants were Mr. AKP Mochtan (ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General, Community and Corporate Affairs), Mr. Tang Siew Mun (Head, ASEAN Studies Centre in Singapore), and Ms. Jenina Joy Chavez (Coordinator, Action for Economic Reforms). Ms. Veronica Pedrosa (independent journalist and former CNN, BBC and Al Jazeera news correspondent) moderated the discussion.

Reporting ASEAN: Media Forum was organized by Manila-based Probe Media Foundation Inc. It aims to provide a platform for journalists and media entities to discuss ASEAN-related issues and developments.
