The inaugural session of the Committee on Energy of the UNESCAP was held on 17-19 January 2017 at the UNESCAP Conference Center in Bangkok. Philippine Department of Energy Undersecretary Mr. Jesus Cristino Posadas headed the Philippine delegation, along with DOE Director Mr. Jesus Tamang and other senior officials.

The Committee on Energy discussed energy priorities, trends and initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region. Energy ministers and representatives discussed energy infrastructure development, connectivity, renewable energy development, as well as progress in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 7 on clean energy.
