The 1st Committee on Information and Communications Technology, Science Technology and Innovation (1st CICTSTI) of the UNESCAP was held on 5-7 October 2016 at the UNESCAP Conference Center in Bangkok. Philippine Information and Communications Technology Secretary Rodolfo Salalima headed the Philippine delegation, along with other senior officials from the Department of Information and Communications Technology and the Department of Science and Technology.

The inaugural CICTSTI session brought together ICT and STI ministers of UNESCAP Member States to formulate policy recommendations on ICT and STI development in the region.

Sec. Salalima also participated in the 11th Session of the Governing Council of the UN-Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (UN-APCICT), where he was elected as new Chairperson. UN-APCICT aims to strengthen the efforts of the member countries of ESCAP to use ICT in their socio-economic development through human and institutional capacity building. END
