Ramkhamhaeng University hosted its 1st ASEAN Film Festival and Conference 2016 (RAFF 2016) held at Ramkhamhaeng University, Bangkok, on 25-29 September 2016. Organized by the Faculty of Mass Communication of Ramkhamhaeng University, the festival featured nine films from the ASEAN countries. It aims to create awareness and expand knowledge about ASEAN culture through film.

“SWAP” tells the story of a young father who was forced to commit a crime in exchange for his kidnapped son’s release from his captors. The film was released on 18 March 2015 and had its international premier as the only Filipino film at the 63rd San Sebastian International Film Festival in Spain. During the panel discussion, Mr Remton Siega Zuasola, Director, said that the film is based on his true life story when he was kidnapped as a child.

Ms. Reyes also attended the film screening of “Unlucky Plaza”, which features Filipino actor Mr. Jeffrey Epy Quizon. In the film, Mr. Quizon plays a Filipino immigrant who took hostages after falling for a scam. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was released in Singapore on 16 April 2015.
