The Philippine Embassy hosted at the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok on 15 June 2016 a diplomatic reception in celebration of the 118th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence.
The Thai Minister of Science and Technology, Mr. Pichet Durongkaweroj, led the list of high-ranking Thai officials which also included Assoc. Prof. Kamjorn Tatiyakavee M.D. (Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education), Mr. Alongkorn Ponlaboot (First Vice Chairman and Spokesperson of the National Reform Steering Assembly), Mr. Paisal Puechmongkol (Vice Minister for the Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon), and Mr. Supachai Somcharoen (Chairman of the Office of the Election Commission of Thailand).

Ambassador Aragon is joined by Embassy officials in welcoming Science and Technology Minister Pichet Durongkaweroj at the reception line. A huge ice sculpture of a “vinta” (a traditional boat in southern Philippines) greets guests at the entrance.

In addition to serving Filipino cuisine, the reception featured a fashion show and exhibit of Filipiniana clothes and jewelry by Ms. Cora Manimbo and Mr. Oscar Atendido.
