The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok participated in the first event of the ASEAN Cultural Center of Thailand entitled “So Different, So Similar, We Are ASEAN Folk Performances” on 17 and 18 October 2015, through a presentation of the Philippine folk dance “Pandanggo sa Ilaw” by Ms. Mary Paz Samelo, a Filipina teacher based in Thailand.

 

 

The event consisted of a temporary art exhibition, an ASEAN cultural show and a lecture on ASEAN folk performing arts by Prof. Emeritus Sr. Surapone Virulrak of Chulalongkorn University.

Established by the Ministry of Culture of Thailand, the ASEAN Cultural Center serves as a venue for exchange and learning about ASEAN arts and culture. The Center plans to present exhibition zones on the variety of cultural identity and heritage of all ASEAN member countries through multimedia technology.
