Silpakorn University in Bangkok recently organized a seminar and workshop on “Cultural Tourism Management”. Ms. Anna Marie C. Santos, Third Secretary and Vice Consul and Ms. Sylvia M. Reyes, Cultural Officer, attended the seminar which run from 1 to 3 July 2015. There were two (2) participants from Philippines, namely Mr. Geronio G. Ulayao, Dean of School of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management of College of Saint Benilde and Ms. Lilibeth C. Aragon, Dean of College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management of Lyceum of the Philippines University.
The seminar and workshop aimed to develop the participant’s theoretical knowledge on the professional practices, cultural tourism patterns and ethnic groups in ASEAN, particularly their cultural heritage, and tourist attractions through the lectures presented by Thai and international experts in the field of cultural tourism, tourism management and tourism architecture and conservation. It also provided opportunities for the participants to learn and share their success and obstacles encountered by them in managing and operating cultural tourism and to outline good practice for managing and conserving cultural heritages leading to a sustainable tourism of ASEAN.
