On 12 November 2014, Ambassador Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia and other Embassy officials called on Governor Ugrich Pungsopa of the Province of Nan in Northwestern Thailand. Ambassador Batoon-Garcia and the Governor discussed ways of increasing cooperation between the local government units and the Filipino community. They also discussed how to promote economic interaction between Nan and the Philippines, including a greater focus on tourism. Additionally, they talked about the future potential contribution of the Filipino community to the province. Amb. Batoon-Garcia took the opportunity to introduce the incoming Philippine Honorary Consul, Mr. Agkarajit Phanomvan Na Ayudhya, to the Governor, local officials, and the Filipino community.
