The Philippines affirmed its commitment to disaster risk reduction during the 6th Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) held in Bangkok. Led by Undersecretary Eduardo G. Batac of the Department of National Defense, the Philippine delegation supported the Conference’s Joint Statement of Ministers and Heads of Delegation (Bangkok Declaration) and the Asia Pacific Input Document for the Post-2015 Framework for DRR (HFA2), among others. The Conference is a biennial conference in the Asia region to ensure political and stakeholder’s commitments towards Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).

The other members of the Philippine delegation were: 1) Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Assistant Secretary Zeneida Angara Collinson, 2) DFA Assistant Secretary Jesus R.S. Domingo, 3) DFA Assistant Director Angella Gilberto L. Alfafara, 4) Second Secretary Princess Tomas-Tayao, 5) Principal Assistant Flaureen Dacanay, and 6) Ms. Pilar Binuya of the Philippine Embassy. Ms. Lenie D. Alegre, Chief, National Disaster Risk Reduction Managemetn Service of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council co-headed the delegation.

Representative Rufus Rodriguez of the second district of Cagayan de Oro City attended the parliamentarians session of the Conference.

The 6th AMCRR was hosted by the Royal Thai Government in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR).
