BANGKOK, 27 AUGUST 2024. Students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at St. Teresa International University in Thailand visited the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok on 21 August for an educational tour to learn about the Philippines' history and culture.
During the visit, the Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul General Ms. Edna May G. Lazaro talked about the Embassy's commitment to promoting educational and cultural exchanges between Thailand and the Philippines. She outlined the Embassy's key roles and responsibilities, including providing consular services, promoting economic security, and safeguarding the rights and welfare of Filipino citizens in Thailand.
In addition, the students engaged in a short discussion on the diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Thailand and the long-standing friendship between the two countries. There was also a brief presentation on various aspects of Filipino culture, including popular tourist destinations, colorful festivals, and distinctive regional Filipino cuisines.
Following the presentation, the students were invited to explore the Sentro Rizal and view some Philippine cultural items such as the traditional Filipiniana dress and Barong Tagalog. The students also had the opportunity to be introduced to significant Filipino literary works including Dr. Jose Rizal's renowned books, El Filibusterismo and Noli Me Tangere, which were also prominently displayed at the Sentro Rizal.
The study visit concluded with students being encouraged to consider visiting the Philippines in the future to experience first-hand the rich cultural offerings of the country.
