BANGKOK, 18 APRIL 2024 - Philippine Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Millicent Cruz Paredes warmly received H.E. Tull Traisorat, Ambassador of Thailand to the Philippines, at the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok on 17 April 2024. Ambassador Tull was accompanied by Madame Fa Traisorat.

Their discussion centered on the joint Philippines-Thailand celebration of the milestone 75th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Thailand this 2024. The anniversary honors 75 years since the Treaty of Friendship between the two countries was signed on 14 June 1949 in Washington DC, USA, as well as the historic people-to-people ties from centuries past that endure today.

Year-long activities celebrating 75 years of relations under the theme “Moving Forward to a New Era of Closer Friendship and Common Prosperity" include high-level visits, government-to-government dialogues, business-to-business cooperation, cultural performances, and community events.

Ambassador Paredes congratulated Ambassador Tull on the successful Thailand-Philippines Street Food Festival organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Manila held on 6-7 April 2024 on Rada Thailand Street in Makati City.

Rada Thailand Street was named at the same time as the naming of the street of the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok as Soi Philippines (30/1) on Sukhumvit Road in 1997, during the signing of the Sister City Agreement between the City of Manila and Bangkok.

Ambassador Paredes and Ambassador Tull also agreed to work together on strengthening the connectivity between the cities and tourist destinations of the Philippines and Thailand, guided by the “Two Countries, One Destination” concept. This includes increasing flights between countries to boost people-to-people connectivity through tourism, trade, and investment.

After the courtesy call, Ambassador Paredes hosted Ambassador Tull and Madame Fa to a Filipino lunch. END
