BANGKOK, 08 April 2024. The Bangkok ASEAN Film Festival 2023 concluded with great success, showcasing the finest cinematic talent from across the ASEAN region. Held from 28 – 31 March 2024, the festival provided a platform for cultural exchange and collaboration, bringing together filmmakers, industry professionals, and cinephiles in a celebration of ASEAN cinema.

Highlighting the event was the presence of distinguished guests, including H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, who also serves as the Chairman of the National Film and Audio-Visual Committee. Minister Sermsak Pongpanit of the Ministry of Culture, along with other Ministry Officials and members of the diplomatic corps, graced the occasion, further emphasizing the government’s support for the film industry within Thailand and the ASEAN region.

Awards were presented to outstanding films, recognizing their exceptional contributions to ASEAN cinema. Two Filipino films received awards. The Silence and Stealth of a Hungry Cat, directed by Arden Rod Condez, received the Special Mention Award in the Southeast Asian Project Pitch Award category, captivating audiences with its compelling narrative and adept filmmaking. In addition, Cross My Heart and Hope to Die by Sam Manasca was honored with the prestigious Best ASEAN Short Film Award, showcasing the director’s skill in storytelling and cinematography.

The Bangkok ASEAN Film Festival 2023 reaffirms Thailand’s commitment to promoting cultural diversity and artistic expression, and its dedication to fostering the growth of the film industry within the ASEAN region. END.
