BANGKOK, 21 MARCH 2024 - The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Thailand is delighted to announce that after more than a month of competition, the entry submitted by Mr. Weerasak Sotiprawat, a Thai national, emerged as the winner in the logo design contest for the 75th Anniversary of the Philippines-Thailand Diplomatic Relations. Mr. Weerasak’s design bested more than 360 logo design entries from Filipino and Thai participants in the Philippines and Thailand.

Mr. Weerasak’s logo design utilizes a handshake symbol and draws inspiration from the sleeves of “Barong Tagalog” and “Suepraratchatan,” the national attires of the Philippines and Thailand, to illustrate the deep bonds between the two nations. By conjoining the flags of the two countries, and further showing the number 75 and a heart symbol, the logo design demonstrates love and committed partnership to maintain friendly Philippines-Thailand ties, and the readiness of both countries to move forward and prosper together.

Four (4) logo design entries were selected as Honorable Mentions. These are the entries submitted by Mr. Kenosis Fuentes Jabiniao, Mr. MarBert Lio Taguba, Mr. Sarattanachai Chuenta, and Mr. Karakot Chaiyon.

Mr. Weerasak’s winning logo design will be officially used by both the Philippines and Thailand in the yearlong commemoration of the milestone 75th anniversary celebration. He will receive a cash prize of THB35,000.00 (approximately PHP58,300.00) while the designers of the Honorable Mention entries will each receive THB10,000.00 (approximately PHP16,650.00). The winner and honorable mentions will receive certificates and the said cash prizes on a scheduled awarding ceremony.

The logo design selection committee included the Assistant Secretary of the Office of Asia and Pacific Affairs of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, the Philippine Ambassador to Thailand, the Director General of the Department of East Asian Affairs of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Thai Ambassador to the Philippines.
