BANGKOK, 4 MARCH 2024. The celebratory mood at the Royal Thai Army Club was filled with warmth and fond memories of the Philippines among Thai nationals who are alumni of Philippine universities, as the Philippine Alumni Association of Thailand (PAAT) under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King commemorated Sampaguita Day on Saturday, 2 March 2024.

The event opened with the remarks of Mr. Supien Sutthanurak, the President of the Association who warmly welcomed all the guests. Meanwhile, Ambassador Millicent Cruz Paredes, in her remarks, emphasized the importance of collaboration and academic excellence in strengthening bilateral relations. Another highlight of the event was the mini-lecture delivered by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Mr. Peeraphan Saleerathaviphak.

Named after the national flower of the Philippines, the event is a testament to the enduring people-to-people bonds between the Philippines and Thailand, highlighting the academic achievements of outstanding alumni and fostering cultural exchange. It also serves as a platform to recognize the exceptional accomplishments of the Thail alumni from Philippine universities and educational institutions, remarkable individuals who pursued their education in the Philippines and returned to Thailand to apply and share the knowledge they gained, enriching both nations in the process.

Sampaguita Day not only celebrates academic achievement but also serves as a reminder of the enduring friendship between the Philippines and Thailand. Through events like these, the bonds of friendship and mutual respect between the two nations is strengthened, paving the way for a brighter and more prosperous cooperation. END.
