Ambassador Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Surapong Tovichakchaikul, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand on 14 January 2013.
Ambassador Batoon Garcia and Minister Surapong discussed mattters concerning overall Philippines-Thailand bilateral relations, including enhancement of bilateral; trade and investments; bilateral cooperation in the fields of education, and fight against illicit drugs and precursors; and the ASEAN Economic Community 2015.
The Ambassador thanked the Minister for Thailand’s donation of 500 metric tons of rice for the victims of Typhoon Bopha/Pablo, and mentioned the Royal Thai Army’s USD30,000 cash donation for the typhoon victims.
Ambassador Batoon-Garcia informed the Minister that the Embassy is undertaking various cultural activities to further raise awareness and understanding of Philippine culture in Thai society. She added that the Embassy believes that cultural activities enhance people-to-people relations.
