BANGKOK, 19 MAY 2023 - Philippine Ambassador to Thailand and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), H.E. Millicent Cruz Paredes was elected as one of the Vice-Chairs of the 79th Session of ESCAP, which is currently being held in Bangkok and online until 19 May 2023.
Ambassador Paredes opened the Senior Officials’ segment of the Session today, which focused on ESCAP Member States’ review of the region’s implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Ambassador chaired the discussion on social development, environment, and disaster risk reduction.
The annual ESCAP session is a forum for the Member States of Asia and the Pacific to review and discuss economic and social issues and to strengthen regional cooperation.
