02 May 2023, BANGKOK - The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok celebrated Filipino Food Month through a special session on Philippine Gastronomy on 19 April 2023 at Thammasat University – Rangsit Campus. This event was organized under the Philippine Studies Program in collaboration with Dr. Piemsak Hongjamrassilp.

Third Secretary and Vice Consul Susan Phoebe R. Sabado introduced and shared with the students various Filipino dishes such as chicken inasal, pinakbet, pancit palabok, daing na bangus and java rice catered by Kalamansi Kafe, a popular Filipino restaurant in Bangkok. In addition, Filipino delicacies from various regions like bagnet chicharon, royal bibingka, pastillas de leche, tsokolate batirol, ube and pili polvoron, sylvannas, Jollibee peach mango pie, candied pili and Auro chocolates were also sampled by the students.

Vice Consul Sabado discussed the origin, history, and influences of the various dishes as they were being served to the participating students. The students also participated by identifying the places of origin of the Filipino food items using an interactive Philippine map.

They all enjoyed the sumptuous dishes and obviously wanted to try more Filipino food in the future. END
