BANGKOK, 21 March 2023 – The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok (PE Bangkok), in collaboration with the Office of the Agriculture Attaché and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center, organized a webinar on entrepreneurship and agribusiness ventures on a micro-scale level in the Philippines, dubbed Trabaho, Negosyo at Kabuhayan (TNK) Series: Micro Agri-Kabuhayan para sa mga Kababayan held last 18 March 2023. The event was attended by over 50 live Zoom participants and over 200 FB livestream viewers.
The Micro Agri-Kabuhayan Para sa Balikbayan Program was launched by the Department of Agriculture (DA) in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment – Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (DOLE-OWWA) in 2021. The program seeks to provide integrated support to returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in starting their own agribusinesses in the Philippines. Under the program, livelihood and agribusiness opportunities are presented to OFWs, even to those who have no previous experience in this field.
Resource speakers and panelists from the DA, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), DOLE-OWWA, and an OFW-turned entrepreneur shared information and experiences as well as discussed various topics including entrepreneurship, agribusiness opportunities, and government programs and services available to Overseas Filipinos intending to return to the Philippines for good and venture into business activities. Priority agricultural and aquaculture commodities per region were detailed, and key elements in starting up an enterprise were thoroughly discussed. Loan programs and training services available to interested Overseas Filipinos were also presented to help them pursue their agribusiness of interest.
The webinar is part of the Embassy’s series of activities for overseas Filipinos that aim to inform, educate, and train Filipinos in Thailand on the various services and government programs available to them in the Philippines. It was the second and a continuation of the webinar series that the Embassy launched with the holding of the first TNK webinar in partnership with the DTI in July last year, which focused on starting a small business. The Philippine Embassy intends to roll out similar events in the coming months on topics of interest such franchising, real estate, and financial literacy. END
