Bangkok, 24 February 2023 - The Philippine Government participated in the First (1st) Session of the Committee on Trade, Investment, Enterprise and Business Innovation of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific held online and in Bangkok, Thailand on 22-24 February 2023.
The Philippine Embassy joined Engr. Sammy Malawan, Region XII (Central Mindanao) Director and Dr. Julius Caesar Sicat, Region III (Central Luzon) Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok. The other members of the Philippine delegation, including representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Climate Change Commission, participated virtually.
Dr. Sicat delivered the Philippine statement, emphasizing how science and technology and innovation (STI) is an enabler of sustainable development and the achievement of the Philippines’ priorities, including job creation and food, water and energy security. Moreover, he highlighted the value of international cooperation on STI and technology transfer in achieving the country’s development goals.
Dr. Sicat also expressed the Philippine Government’s appreciation to the Asia Pacific Center for Transfer of Technology (APCTT) for being an active partner of the DOST-Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI) in capacity building activities in the Philippines. END
