The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines participated in the 4th RU ASEAN Film Festival and Conference at Ramkhamhaeng University Sukhothai Building on 21 July 2022.

The event was organized by the Faculty of Mass Communication of Ramkhamhaeng University. The event aimed to showcase the diversity of ASEAN culture through films about food. The Philippines participated by showing a Filipino documentary entitled “Ulam: Main Dish.” It is the first food documentary following the rise of the Filipino food movement via the chefs crossing over to the center of the American table.

The documentary featured Filipino chefs and restaurateurs Alvin Cailan (Eggslut, The Usual, Amboy, and Unit 120), Nicole Ponseca and Miguel Trinidad (Maharlika, Jeepney, and Tita Baby’s), Romy Dorotan and Amy Besa (Purple Yam, and Purple Yam Malate), Johneric Concordia and Christine Araquel-Concordia (The Park’s Finest), Charles Olalia (Ricebar, and Ma’am Sir), Chase Valencia and Chad Valencia (Lasa), and Andre Guerrero (The Oinkster, Maximiliano, and The Little Bear).
