25 April 2022, Bangkok – Philippine Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Millicent Cruz Paredes paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H.E. Don Pramudwinai on 19 April 2022 at the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to formally introduce herself and discuss the enhancement of bilateral relations between the Philippines and Thailand.

The Philippine Ambassador informed the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister that she was looking forward to the convening of the 6th meeting of the Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation, which is to be hosted by Thailand. This would provide substance to the commemoration in 2024 of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, in addition to a number of activities already being planned for the milestone.

Ambassador Paredes also congratulated the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister on Thailand’s successful chairing of APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) this year, and assured him of the Philippines’ full support, especially in the run-up to the APEC Leaders’ Meeting in November.

Aside from the formal aspects of bilateral relations and cooperation, Ambassador Paredes and the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister exchanged views on a wide range of topics, including the Philippine national elections on 9 May. The Deputy Foreign Minister/Foreign Minister showed keen interest in the status of Filipinos in Thailand, having fond memories of professional and personal acquaintances from the Philippines. END
