The Philippine Delegation, headed by Ambassador Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia, participated in the 69thCommission Session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) with the theme “Opportunities to Build Resilience to Natural Disasters and Major Economic Shocks”. The Commission Session was held from 25 April to 1 May 2013 at the United Nations Conference Center (UNCC) in Bangkok, Thailand.

Ambassador Batoon-Garcia, as Head of the Delegation, delivered a country statement highlighting Philippine efforts, at the domestic, regional and multilateral level, to build resilience to major disasters and economic shocks. The Philippine delegation also delivered two interventions during the Senior Officials Segment of the session: one on information communications and technology by DOST Usec. Casambre, and another on statistics by NSO Administrator Ericta.
