The Philippines won a seat in the Governing Council of the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) for the year 2013-2015.
Seven (7) other countries were elected to the Governing Council during the elections held on 29 April 2013 at the sidelines of the 69th ESCAP Commission Session in Bangkok.
The Council consists of representatives designated by the Government of Japan and eight representatives nominated by other members and associate members of ESCAP elected by the Commission. The Council reviews the administration and financial status of the Institute and implementation of programme of work.
