Ms. Universe Baldoza, a Filipino filmmaker and video artist from Manila, is participating with her script entitled “Invisible Animals” in the program “ASEAN Filmmakers in Residence” organized by the Thai Ministry of Culture and will take place in Thailand from 10 March to 8 April 2014.
ASEAN Filmmakers in Residence Project aims to encourage new voices in ASEAN cinema with particular attention to the script as an indispensable component and an essential element in film making.
Ms. Baldoza is among the five film script writers from ASEAN countries namely the Republic of Indonesia, Lao’s People Democratic Republic, Singapore and the Republic of Union of Myanmar that were selected and invited to stay to research and develop their script in Thailand for a month.
Ms. Baldoza studied film at the Mowelfund Film Institute and was selected for the Berlinale Talent Campus’ Script Station in Germany and the Produire Au Sud in Bangkok. She was one of the commissioned filmmakers for this year’s Sharjah Art Biennial 11 under the film program headed by filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul.
Philippine Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand, Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia, attended the reception hosted by the Ministry of Culture for the participants of the ASEAN Filmmakers in Residence Project held at Swissotel Nai Lert Park in Bangkok.
