The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok participated anew in the “Foster Child Meets Mom Day 2019”, a Foster Child Care Project event of the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), which was held on 17 August 2019 at the YWCA Office on Sathorn Road, Bangkok. The event is organized and celebrated annually in August to coincide with Thai National Mothers’ Day in commemoration of the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. Mrs. Edith Mallillin, Embassy’s Cultural Officer, represented Ambassador Mary Jo A. Bernardo-Aragon in said event.

The Foster Child Care Project, which grants free education and other related benefits to orphaned and poor children in Thailand, is one of the recipients of the Diplomatic Charity Bazaar fundraising charity organized yearly by YWCA, in collaboration with the foreign diplomatic missions in Bangkok. The Heads of Missions, their spouses and/or representatives, as benefactors, were invited to the event to meet the children who were awarded scholarships in the preceding year, as well as the new scholars awarded in 2019.
