BANGKOK, 15 August 2019 – Philippine Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Mary Jo A. Bernardo-Aragon joined Ms. Patida Pananond, Executive Vice President of Thailand Post Company, in launching on 3 August 2019 the “Thai-Filipino Pen Friend Project”, a joint project of the Philippine Postal Corporation and Thailand Post Company, in commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of the establishment of Philippines-Thailand Diplomatic Relations. The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) showed its support to the project with the attendance of Ms. Rujikorn Saengchantr, Director of the MFA-Department of East Asian Affairs. The event was held at the Grand Postal Building, Bangrak, Bangkok and was participated in by seventy Thai students. The Project taught the students the importance of postal operations, Philippine culture, and enhanced their English language skills through letter and essay writing. # END

Aside from learning the significance of postal operations, the students also gained knowledge about Philippine culture and were able to enhance their English skill, particularly in letter-writing. An essay writing contest was participated in by the students with two winners receiving a round-trip ticket to the Philippines.
