BANGKOK, 5 July 2019 – Ambassador Mary Jo A. Bernado-Aragon joined officials from the National Museum of the Philippines and Museum Siam at the 4 July opening ceremony of the Hibla ng Lahi Traveling Exhibition entitled Piña-Seda, Pineapple and Silk Cloths from the Tropics.

The exhibition, featuring a lecture series, weaving demonstrations and embroidery workshops, is a joint project of the National Museum of the Philippines and the Office of (former) Senator Legarda. The Bangkok staging was made possible through the cooperation of the National Discovery Institute (Museum Siam) in Bangkok.

The traveling exhibition highlights the unique qualities of the piña cloth and the efforts of the National Museum to preserve and promote the weaving practices of the country’s traditional textiles, and also to promote Philippine artistry.

Piña-seda weavers from Balete, Aklan and Piña-Seda embroiderers from Lumban, Laguna are also featured in the exhibition, demonstrating their weaving and embroidery skills.

The exhibition is housed at Museum Siam, Multi-Purpose Building, 4 Sanam Chai Rd., Khwaeng Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang, Khet Phra Nakhon, Bangkok. It will run until 27 July 2019. Below are schedule details of the exhibit and corollary activities:
