On 24 November 2018, Ambassador Mary Jo A. Bernardo-Aragon attended the Courtesy call of the participants 45th Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program to the Thai Minister of Social Development and Human Security, General Anantaporn Kanjanarat. This was followed by a Welcome Dinner for the participants.

The Philippine team, composed of 28 youths, was headed by Mr. Sydney R. Lee.

The Ship for Southeast and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP) was launched as a joint program among Japan and ASEAN countries in January 1974. This year marks the 45th program where the youths from ten ASEAN countries and Japan participate in various activities to promote friendship and mutual understanding among the promising youth of Japan and ASEAN countries and to develop leadership skills for a period of two months.
