The Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) has issued Advisory No. 33 dated 26 July 2016 warning the general public, particularly Filipinos seeking employment in the ASEAN Members States of Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Malaysia who use visa runs:

"Visa runs is considered one of the facility being used by human traffickers and drug syndicates, the public is strongly warned against this mode of entry/exit in order to avoid possible risks to their welfare and safety.

Prospective applicants seeking employment in the abovementioned countries are advised to take the legal route and take extra precaution by establishing the authenticity of employment offers by verifying the job orders with the POEA through its website at www.poea.gov.ph and hotlines at +632-722-1144 and +632-722-1155.”
