BANGKOK, 27 FEBRUARY 2025 - Five Filipino human trafficking victims in scam hubs in Myanmar safely returned  to the country assisted by the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok.

The Philippine Embassy worked diligently with Thai authorities to ensure a swift and effective repatriation process for them to be reunited with their families in the Philippines.

On February 26, 2025, the custody of the victims was transferred to our Embassy after their safe crossing from Myawaddy, Myanmar, into Thailand. Upon reaching the Thai border, the victims voluntarily surrendered to Thai authorities in Mae Sot, Tak Province.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Royal Thai Government for their unwavering support and cooperation throughout the repatriation process.

The Department of Foreign Affairs, through the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok, is firmly committed to assisting any remaining Filipinos in the region. We will continue to collaborate closely with both Thai and Myanmar authorities, as needed, to ensure their safety and facilitate their timely return to the Philippines. END
