BANGKOK, 09 MARCH 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, wishes to inform the public that all four Filipino transgender nationals already departed Thailand for the Philippines. They were met by DFA officials led by Undersecretary Eduardo José A. De Vega of the Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs (OUMWA).

The Embassy provided comprehensive assistance and support to our affected nationals. The fines ordered by the Bangkok Civil Court were paid and settled by the Philippine Government through the Philippine Embassy.

In light of this incident, it has come to the attention of the Embassy that some unscrupulous individuals or entities are using this unfortunate event to conduct fundraising activities in the guise of helping the above four Filipinos in “paying their fines.” We caution these concerned individuals from spreading misinformation or posting unsubstantiated information on social media.

We thank and acknowledge the assistance and efforts of the Royal Thai Police, particularly the Metropolitan Police Division 5 and the Lumpini Police Station, in the speedy resolution of this incident involving our kababayan.

The Philippine Embassy assures the public that this isolated incident will not alter or affect the strong and enduring bonds of friendship and cordial relations between the Philippines and Thailand. END
