The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok welcomes and strongly supports the investigation immediately initiated by the Philippines’ Office for Transportation Security (OTS) after being informed of the incident where Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) security personnel purportedly stole from a Thai national as he was going through airport security check.

The involved personnel were relieved from their duty and were placed under preventive suspension. OTS investigators are now preparing to file the appropriate administrative cases, expressed their intention to pursue the filing of criminal cases against the concerned individuals and will seek the cooperation of the victimized foreign nationals to expedite the filing of an airtight case.

The Embassy condemns and joins the call to never tolerate criminal acts that tarnish the reputation and integrity of the Philippines and Filipinos, and to apply the full force of the law to penalize the perpetrators. END
