The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok has the sad duty to inform the Filipino Community and the general public in Thailand that H.E. Albert F. Del Rosario, the Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs from 2011 to 2016, passed away on 17 April 2023.

The late Secretary Del Rosario also served as Philippine Ambassador to the United States of America from 2001 to 2006.

In addition to his service in government, Secretary del Rosario had an extensive business career that spanned a vast field, which included insurance, banking, real estate, shipping, telecommunications, consumer products, retail, pharmaceutical, and food industries, among others. He was a member of the Board of Directors of various firms. 

In September of 2004, H.E. President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo conferred on Secretary del Rosario the highest possible award, the Order of Sikatuna, with the Rank of Datu,  for his outstanding efforts in promoting foreign relations. In early 2001, he received the EDSA II Heroes Award from President Macapagal-Arroyo in recognition of his efforts in promoting Philippine democracy. He also received in 1991 the Philippine Army Award from H.E. President Corazon C. Aquino for his initiatives as Chairman of the Makati Foundation for Education. He is enlisted in the Xavier Hall of Fame in New York City.
