Effective immediately, all 9(a) (Temporary Visitor) visa applications shall be submitted using the Online Visa Application System (OVAS) Portal - https://www.visa.gov.ph.

Only foreign nationals under the following categories are qualified to apply for a 9(a) visa:

  1. Foreign nationals entering the Philippines for business purposes, duly endorsed by the relevant national government agency and who have an Entry Exemption Document (EED) from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA);
  2. Foreign nationals who are spouses/parents/minor children of Filipino nationals currently residing in the Philippines; and
  3. Foreign nationals who have been granted exemption on humanitarian grounds, and who have an Entry Exemption Document (EED) from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

To apply for 9(a) visa, simply follow these steps:

  1. Go to  https://www.visa.gov.ph;
  2. Choose appropriate Visa Type;
  3. Select “Single Entry” under Entry Type (choose Multiple Entry if indicated in your EED);
  4. Provide complete and correct personal information;
  5. Upload your photo following the visa photo requirements indicated on the online form;
  6. Ensure that the visa form is signed before uploading it in the online application form;
  7. Upload a readable scanned copy of your passport; and
  8. Print and affix your signature on the OVAS-generated application form.

On the day of your visa appointment, please bring the following documents:

  1. Original passport and photocopy of its data page. The passport must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond the intended period of stay in the Philippines;
  2. Copy of the OVAS-generated visa application form with the visa applicant’s signature;
  3. Passport-size color photograph of the visa applicant taken within the last 3 months;
  4. Original copies of proof of marriage or filiation and proof of Philippine citizenship of the immediate Filipino relative (e.g. birth certificate, marriage contract, Philippine passport, etc.). Documents in Thai or issued by foreign governments should have English translation and authenticated by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
  5. Letter from the Filipino spouse/parent providing guarantee/support;
  6. Copy of flight itinerary/booking (if available);
  7. Visa Undertaking Form; and
  8. Other supporting documents, if requested.

For other visa types (e.g., 9e, 9c, 9g, 47a2), the paper application form (F.A. Form No. 2) will continue to be used. Download the form from the link below:
